Webinar in preparation for COP16

On Thursday July 11, NatureXpairs and the IUCN French Committee co-hosted a webinar as part of the HAC N&P France (HAC N&P Fr) and Developing Countries and Biodiversity (DC & B) working groups. This event marked a significant milestone in the mobilization of French players for the next COP16 biodiversity, to be held in Colombia from October 21 to November 1, 2024.

In the presence of French Ambassador for the Environment Sylvie Lemmet, who outlined the stakes of the COP16 negotiations for France, the webinar brought together some 60 participants and developed several points:

  • Presentation of the stakes of COP16 for France: representatives of the MEAE, MTECT, OFB and AFD presented the negotiation themes for France and the stakes for French institutions.
  • Sharing of key information on participation in the COP and its progress, enabling participants to prepare effectively.
  • Identification of the players and partners involved, with an inventory of the themes and projects to be addressed at COP16.

The webinar was also an opportunity to launch the NatureXpairs platform, dedicated to mobilizing French expertise in the management and preservation of protected areas.
This platform will :

  • Facilitate the emergence of international cooperation projects based on French expertise in protected area management.
  • Provide comprehensive and diversified access to French expertise for cooperation projects.
  • Promote and enhance French expertise on the international stage, by continually enriching the information available.

New resources and expertise offers will be added regularly. If you would like to contribute, please contact us!
